There are many tools and services available to charities and nonprofits.  Most of them offer services ranging from no-frills all the way to a fully integrated donor database.

Here is a sample of some of the services and how they compare:


1. CharityGiving

Platform fee: $0

Processor fee: 3.5% plus $0.30 per transaction

Notable Features: OneClick Donation® allows supporters to donate in under a minute! It only takes three steps to donate. Able to double the donations with matching gift feature, supports recurring donations and friend-raising.

2. Paypal

Platform fee: $0

Processor fee: 2.9% plus $0.30 per transaction

Notable Features: PayPal has an advantage since they are a trusted brand when it comes to processing money online. Paypal’s donation button can be placed on a website to make it simple for donors to give.

3. GoFundMe/YouCaring

Platform fee: 0% platform fee in the US, UK, and Canada and 5% in all other countries

Processor fee: 2.9% plus $0.30 per transaction (varies slightly by country)

Notable Features: GoFundMe now owns YouCaring. Brand themselves as personal fundraising, but also work for businesses. You can keep your funds raised even if you didn’t meet your goal. GoFundMe has a well-established platform with a community of over 50 million people who have raised over $5 billion.

4. Indiegogo

Platform fee: 9% of funds raised; if you reach your goal, Indiegogo refunds 5%

Processor fee: 3% to 5%; currency exchange and wire fees may apply

Notable Features: Began as a website to help fund projects related to film or music, but has grown since its start. Has been rated to be great for small business owners do to its flexible fundraising models. A unique feature is the ability to raise funds after the campaign ends.

5. Razoo

Personal fundraisers: 7.9% of funds raised (includes processor fees)

Charitable fundraisers:

Platform fee: 4.9% of funds raised

Processor fee: 2% plus $0.30 per transaction

Notable Features: Able to search for and donate to specific charities or create a fundraiser. Built-in social sharing features set them apart. Razoo’s donation widget can be used to process donations on your website or blog efficiently.

6. CrowdRise

Platform fee: 3% to 5% of funds raised

Processor fee: 2.9% plus $0.30 per transaction

Notable Features: Tools provided for personal fundraising, event fundraising, special occasion fundraising, team fundraising, and sponsored volunteerism. Donors can accumulate points when using the site. Top point earners get prizes.

7. Fundly

Platform fee: 4.9% of funds raised (discounts available for donations over $50,000)

Processor fee: 3% on average

Notable Features: One of the leading crowdfunding platforms for nonprofits. Access to donation service, a CRM, and a volunteer management platform, to name a few. Very user-friendly platform.
